the metal pipe is 1.5 inches and the whole rail is 10 inches from the ground. if i were to make it over the only thing i would change is to make it 2-4 inches higher.

how tall is your box? i used to have a 22inch tall rail and i had plywood with wood under it for the lip and it was kinda sketchy. now my rail is 10inches tall and plywood with wood under it works great. so basically if your rail is really tall use dirt, but if not plywood is just fine.

looks good but you should have bought pvc without that bulge at the end

^i used liquid nails and my pvc rail is not broken. screws in the ends is the best. make them really tight though.

ya i only drilled through the bottom, not the top. thats why i used screws that could be tightened by a wrench so i could get them really tight and stable.
