    Camera pros?

I'll always hit my local camera shops first, if they don't have what I'm looking for it's Adorama, B&H, and Calumet, in that order.

    Over 21 Cult

Being 24 I'm not exactly "old" but with the average age on this site 15 or 16 I see what you are saying. However, I've found most of the discussion here to be overall pretty mature. It's hard to get off topic when so many people are so dedicated to a common interest.

For all you budding Photo monkeys

Check out Strobist - it's an online tutorial on off camera lighting with standard flashes. Great stuff to be learned there, especially if you are interested in this professionally, or just want to take better shots of your bros. http://strobist.blogspot.com/

Don't make fun... exclusive rights are worth way more than a few cases of beer - even if you are starting out. She made a good point.

Got my reply back from Zach (thanks Zach). They seem pretty legit, but just starting out. Keep an eye on these guys and see where it goes.

    Safari, what the fuck?

Ok... Make a new user on your computer and launch safari - does it work? If safari crashes in the new user it's a problem with the app or some system level prefs, and you need to reinstall. IF safari works on the new user it's something with your account, go into /users//library/preferences/...

    Aperture...(computer program)

System requirements for aperture are pretty high, yeah, need at least a 1.8 Ghz G5 or higher 1 GB ram, and a good video card. It runs OK on the bottom end machine, usable and only really slows down when you're doing some intense sorting or stuff like that.

    Backpacks

Lowe CompuTrekker - 's what I use. Has an "all weather" cover that comes out and folds over the top of the pack to keep it waterproof. Never needed to use it, found that even if it's snowing hard the inside of the pack stays nice and dry.

    Making sequences? HELP!

Why make a sequence of a video capture? Just post the vid holmes. Use a real camera next time if you want a sequence.

    Aperture...(computer program)

Aperture is NOT an editing program, it's a workflow management program. Aperture is exactly what you are looking for, especially if you shoot a high volume of pictures. I've used it iView and Lightroom and like Aperture the best. Check out the others though and see what you like the most...

    Digital cameras

Add to this with SLR you can change lenses as needed, with a p&s you're limited to what's on camera. I shoot a D70 and a D200, both of which are great cameras. There isn't much difference between a 50 and a 70, you're just loosing a few features. DoF preview button is the only one I can name...

What kind of computer do you have?

The 20 was a secondary add on later down the line. Originally was hooked up to my Wife's mac mini, when I upgraded to the MBP, she got my old 12" powerbook, mini turned into a media center box and I got her 20" display.
