I feel the pain, Stuck in C. Springs right now wishing I could hit WP. Especially since they just opened parsenn bowl and backside vasquez. Damn the roads! I am going up over xmas to stay with my wife's family, hoping it won't be too tracked out by then... Or I can make it.
One last thing... have the police been involved yet? Also has she done any checking of pawn shops in the area for her gear? If she's got Serial numbers for her gear, I'll gladly cruize some here, admittedly I'm in CO but never know how things travel with ebay and all.
Adding on.. shoulda read more of the thread. That 10.5 fisheye is such a great lens but use is so limited. 18-70 is pretty OK, not the best lens nikon makes. 12-24 is probably the best wide you'll find on a nikon mount.
^Big word up to that! Get what works best for you canon or nikon or even pentax or whatever. Go try the camera and get the one YOU want not the one a bunch of people on the internet tell you. You'll be happier in the long run.
Agreed, 'cept the D200 uses CF and not SD cards. Also I'd reccomend picking up a flash as well, SB-600's can be found used pretty easily they're solid flashes and work with Nikon CLS. You could look into a lens with a bit longer range too, 18-200 vr is a bit expensive ($700) but would do ya...
The main thing is to use what works for you, I shot aperture priority for a year, got plenty of amazing shots. Just learn how to meter what your shooting and adjust from there. Photography is more than "you should only use manual controls", or "you should only do what the camera tells you"...
I just ditched the lowe bag for skiing and picked up a sequence. Get one, it's so much more comfortable than the lowe bags for riding. I can still cary both of my bodies, 4 lenses and 2 flashes in it no problem. And there's plenty of room still available for other items like PW's and whatnot.
I use a lowepro computrekker aw.
Fits my D200 with 70-200 2.8 and battery grip attached. My D70 and all my lenses, flashes, batteries, tripod, etc etc etc. However, it's not the most comfortable bag in the world.
There's a multi kink on union by the East library and vickers that I've been eying. Need to go scope it out up close and see if it's doable but based off of what I've seen driving sweet.
All you people down here in the Springs start building your lists of rails to hit this winter. I'm wanting to get some more urban shots into my portfolio this year, and need some locals to shoot with. Reply here or send me an email - eric@ericschmittphoto.com
