about poping off a rail: actually you can't jump off the rail, you simply fall down from the rail at its end (ok maybe that sucks and maybe I'll try to make a jump being possible from a rail ;))... So just hope you have an enough big gap at the end of it because YOU CAN DO TRICKS when falling...

to land in halfpipes you must be in the same direction as the slope of the side of the pipe you want to land on... the game don't do it for you... I mean if you jump in the left side of the pipe, you have to make you rider look at the right side to land successfully (but not looking backward...

To ItsBackFliptime: you're surely not the only one, this flashing screens occurs during menus right? Probably in fullscreen mode... Just try various opengl settings at startup, you will probably find a some that are comfortable for your graphic chipset. Don't forget to try windowed mode too...
