Word. There aren't really any great camcorders available for that price. You can get a camera that will take footage and have very little manual features, which I'm guessing is what you're looking for. Avoid harddrive cameras. Tape is probably best for intro, but SD cards aren't a terrible...

I could be wrong, but I think the dvx has a button to let you turn off the LCD screen so that you can save battery but also access the buttons behind the screen. I haven't used a dvx in about year so i forget exactly how it's done. That could be the problem

6.1 MP is alot of pixels. I know that there are lots of 8-12+ mp cameras out there, but unless your planning on making large prints, it doesn't matter that much. The rebel is a fun and cheap camera.

Picture quality really isn't everything. 35mm looks pretty damn good on the big screen and the little screen. 85% of hollywood type movies are still shot on film, and they probably will be for the next 15-20 years
