Dude with an auto you can use engine braking too. I think on most of them they have Park, revers, neutral, drive, 4, 3, 2, and L which you can shift into and use engine braking just as efficiently as a manual. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I'm sure you could ski, but what you do while skiing could jeopardize it. Break it again and I'm sure there will be surgery involved. I'd just not really ride park, or don't go too big. Say away from rails and boxes for sure, you slip or fall off the side and you could break it easily again...
