Atomic

Atomic and Chris Bentchetler are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Bent Chetler ski, which has gone through a progressive transformation over the course of the past decade. The ski was designed to surf the mountain and has, in turn, changed how athletes ski the backcountry. The new skis are made with a lighter poplar core, and meant to be a cleaner construction and ride, but they have the same integrity that you would expect from a Bent Chetler. "In the last 10 years Chris has redefined what’s possible in the backcountry with the help of his pro model. And he not only contributes by giving his skis his own graphics and style but also came up with the idea of HRZN Tech and this ultimate powder design. Year by year he comes back to the Atomic R&D team and together they further develop and fine-tune every little detail to make the best powder ski even better." To celebrate 10 years, they have added two new skis to the Bent Chetler family - the Bent Chetler 100 and the Bent Chetler Mini. The classic Bent Chetler is back with a 120 waist and a few tweaks to Chris' HorizonTech rocker construction, including a significant reduction in weight (it's now only 1700g per ski in a 184). Early reports suggest the ski still feels the same to ride, just lighter. The 100 should be a good all mountain alternative for when the snow isn't as deep but it feels surprisingly stiff and directional from a quick hand-flex. Additionally, they announced the SHIFT binding with Salomon, built for uphill touring without sacrificing downhill performance. There's also a new 107mm Backland ski. Website: http://www.atomicsnow.com
