  • saw a thread from a while back talkin about how to sew a fleece beanie and was wondering if you could help a guy out with how to sew it. I have tried multiple times and don’t know the pattern to use.

Never really used a pattern but basically you take a rectangle of fleece with the dimensions (circumference of your headish + 1” seam allowance) x (2x as deep as you want the hat). For example a 22 inch side will make an 11 inch deep hat. Measure your head or other beanies to see what will work. The next step is to fold the rectangle in half so the circumference side of the rectangle stays the same length. Then sew a straight stitch across the long side of the rectangle that is open 0.5 inches in from the edge. Then fold the fabric in half so the two short ends are facing the same direction. Sew a straight stitch to join the two 0.5 inches in from the edge. You should now have a tube. The next step is to take the side of the tube with the stitch and pinch it into a + shape. Use pins to hold this shape and sew a straight stitch from The outside to the middle of each leg of the + shape. Flip that bitch inside out and roll the bottom like a beanie and you should be good to go. Hope that helps g good luck
