The lifts at the Big Mtn started spinning last weekend, and I am pumped for this weekend as well. I got first chair with some friends, including Amonieve. Waist deep powder on the backside was soo amazing. I also made the front page of the Daily Inter Lake because of this, and because I was skiing when I should have been in school a couple of my teachers didn't really like it. I don't care, it was entirely worth it.
I am still super psyched on skiing. I had what amounted to a fairly shitty week in school, and I have had less than 7 hours of sleep each night this week. Despite this, I feel happy and excited to go skiing. I really hope I can keep this feeling going throughout the season. This has also transfered over to mundane things like English class, and I feel that I really savor moments of life that I formerly did not because of this happiness. I really can't express what I feel in words, but I am more happy than I have been for a long time.
The Declaration of Independance
Skiing is too great a lifestyle to follow. The sheer joy of skiing that I feel is a dirivative of creativity, and so I now declare:
No more will I follow others trends in skiing.
No more will I act or think as a judge of others skiing. They are free to do what they want, and limiting self expression is contrary to everything skiing stands for.
I refuse to accept that skiing is not worth of status because it does not appear every week on television. The conceptions of people who do not realize the feelings I recieve from skiing will not longer have an affect on my mindset.
