'Dedicated to my Sister Cherry'

'Who Always Believed'

Life is a very symphonized race to embrace

Ma always encouraged us to open our eyes and hearts to the world

Make up our own minds for experience, and be inspired

I see life in angles, in lines of perspec'ive

A sloight turn of the head, the blink of an eye

Subtle glimpses of magic, ever [fate] moigh' pass by

Cameras help me transla'e, interpre', understand wha' I see

It's a simple light that keeps me grinnin'

I never set out to become anythin' in particular

Only to live crea'ively and push the scope of my experience fthrough adventahr and fthrough passion

The -- means some'in to me

Same as most anyone with dreams

My hear' bleeds Celti' blood

And I'm magnetized to familiar frontiers

Raw, brutal, cold coastline for the roight waveriders to challenge

This is where my hear' beats hardest

I try to pay tribu'e to tha' magi' for the pho'ographs

Wherever in the endless storms for raw glimpses of magic each winter is bof a blessin' and a curse I relish

I wanna see waveridin' documen'ed the way I see i' in my head and feel i' in the sea

I's a strange set of skills to begin to acquire

I's only achievable through time spen' ridin' waves

All soughe's of waves on all soughe's of crafts means more time learnin' out on the water

Floatin' in the sea amongs' lumps of swell

Ya always learn sugm'in

Has been a lifelon' wise-ol' classroom teachah of soughe's

And ho'efully always will be

Buried beneath headlands shaping the coast

Mindblowin' images of empty waves blowin' away at me

Solid ocean swehwls power through deep col' watah

Heavy waves

Waves wi' weight

The couch from comfortable routine ignite the imagination

Invite sum of tha [foines] spark, whisper possibilities

- situations I thrive amongs' an' love to documen'

Who'll take nex' in the process

Broken backs, drownings, near drownings, hypothermia, dislocations, fractahes, frostboigh'e, head woun's, stitches, concussions, bro'e mhay arm, and tha's jus the las' couple of yeahrs

Still look forward to getting amongst ah' leas' one although

Cold creepin' into your core, drivin' you mad, day aftah day

Mumblin' to youhself whiw'e you hol' position an' waih' fourh the nex' se' to come

The dark side of the lens

An artform unto i'self the bes', solid workhorses of the surfin' world

There's no sugah or cliche

Most fol' don't even know who we ah, wha' we do, or rghow we do i'

Le' alone gonna pay us for i'

I never wanna ta'e this granted

So I try to keep motivation simple, real, positive

If I only scrape a livin', at least it's a livin' worth scrapin'

If there's no futahr in i', a' leas' there's the present worth remembering

For foires of happiness and waves of gra'itude

For everyfin tha' brough' us to tha' poin' on earth a' tha' momen' in time

To do somefin worf rememberin with a photograf or a scahr

I feel genuinely lucky to say hand on hear' to say I love doin' what I do

And I may never be a rich man

If I live long enough

I'll certainly have a tale or two for the nephews

And I dig the though' of tha'
