Winters are harsh. The ripping winds and insane gusts, pelt me with snow. I am not hunkered down, I am fully exposed. I ignore the icy blasts.

Seeds take, trees grow, but the alpine winter are some of the toughest places to grow. Trees can be isolated. Living at high elevations in relative solitude.

Winters are harsh, ripping winds with massive gusts. Blowing even lower trees down, blowing down power lines and other infrastructure but the tree remains. Pelted with snow, not hunkered down, fully exposed. It defies the icy blasts.

We need the spring sun, maybe the summer off to recharge and get everything in balance. Winter is a place where we can grow, but winters can be taxing. Mountain towns can be dark, the sun can seem far off. Hang onto that hillside, the blasts of winter will fade to the good vibes of spring laps, and then to summer growth.

Sometimes whole trees can be ripped free from the slope with little resistance from their roots. In mountain towns roots can be hard to come by. The free wandering life has it's appeals but when that slide comes, there is little to hold onto.
