Saas-Fee summer testing
The Faction Collective HQ team & friends bounced over the land of ice & rock to sunny Saas-Fee in July to do some final testing of the 08/09 production line, including some new hyper-secret products that we will be launching when our new website goes live on October 1. The progression from last year has been impressive and everyone had a blast. For all those ski techies out there you will be happy to know this year's line will also include easy mounting points - one forward for the newschoolers who like a little more in the rear and another for the old-school specialists who like to bring on the jets out of the turn.
Faction launch Design Competition - win $500 and your own skis!
The 08/09 Faction line of skis is an impressive leap in terms of graphic design lead by El Capitan Tony McWilliam. With the standards set the design team is opening its doors and looking towards up and coming artists in many formats.
The challenge will be to bring any form of media into the theme “Urban Jungle and Decay” and place the design on the limited space of a ski topsheet. Designs entered by students, young artists, and old dogs looking to have a crack will be posted on the Faction website for voting. The winner announced March 5th will receive a pair of custom Faction Skis, international recognition and a cash prize of $500.

Rage Films "Such Is Life" launch tour dates, starring Faction riders Mark Dvorak and Ryan Oakden
That autumn itch for ski movies with ridiculous footage from last year's best days is almost here. Rage Productions has announced their fall film tour for this year's production “Such is Life”. Starting September 12sth at the IF3 in Montreal, a film festival joining the forces Freeskiing in North America and 1000s of viewers, for a weekend of film debuts and wild nights in the streets of Montreal, the city of love by the hour! The West Coast premiere will be the second stop on the 13th of September in Bend, Oregon at the Tower Theatre where over 900 people will gather to check out the film and meet the riders including Faction Pro Team members Mark Dvorak and Ryan Oakden. Watch out for further dates in Whistler as well as Europe.

Environmental policy update
Following the lead of Faction Collective team rider Jack Nelson, who started sustainable seasons (www.sustainableseasons.org), an association dedicated to reducing carbon emissions, Faction HQ has registered to be part of a report by www.mountain-riders.org, evaluating the efforts of companies within the ski industry to improve practices which negatively affect the environment. We are also investing in reseach with the EPFL in Lausanne Switzerland to look at sustainable design and lifecycle assessment. It's not a short and easy road but we are ready to start now and do what we can!
