One of the most controversial topics throughout the community, is over the debate of "gapers" skiing in the terrain parks, with multiple skiers still clinging to their opinion of "f*ck the gapers, I'll toss them out of my way if they cut me off". A clip recently caught the attention of a couple hundred thousand on an Instagram account notorious for showing people messing up on the mountain. This clip showed a specific park skier knocking a small kid off the landing of a jump because he got in the way of the skiers line; that skier is Jann Gadient.

It took me a minute to decide if I really wanted to post this since as many claim, any exposure is good exposure, but I think when it comes to punching little kids you can't really come out on top.

Fair warning for those of you with that stick still up your ass; you might want to stop reading because it's about to pierce an organ.

Since day one on the mountain, I've known that the downhill skier has the right of way in basically any given situation. Love it or hate it, that's just a fact; no one downhill is looking backwards to see if someone is about to roll through and smoke them - that job is up to the overtaking skier to judge how to avoid those below them. Some have argued that this is not the case when it comes to the terrain park and someone has a set line, but that's just entirely untrue. There's no such thing as a set line unless you're in a competition. Not every skier in the park links up multiple hits in a run, most usually pause at least between a few to take a break. If you aren't that skier - kudos to you, but you're still not exempt from the rules of the mountain.

Whether or not you think that kid should've been in the terrain park or not is regardless to what happened. He was, get over it. People who shouldn't be in the park end up there all the time - it doesn't give you reason to be an asshole; it especially doesn't give you reason to punch a kid. He couldn't see the kid because he was skiing switch and looking over his opposite shoulder? You become twice as liable for those downhill of you if you decide to ski backwards down the mountain. The fact that you can ski switch better than some can forward doesn't remove your responsibility of making sure you stay clear of those ahead of you. To those claiming that he cut Jann off? That kid was literally 20 yards ahead of him since the beginning of the clip and never once actually cut him off. There were three separate rails all filtering down to the same jump, it was bound to happen at one point or another, it just happened to be someone smaller than you and you felt the need to hit him.

If you want to argue with me on whether or not he punched or pushed him, I honestly don't care. Either way you hit a kid that looks no older than 12 and about half your size - I'll stick to the worse of the two evils.

Moving on from the asshole above, let's take a look at the original account that showed the video, Schnuzler & Schnauz. Besides the fact that your brand's name just sounds like someone sneezing, I can honestly say I have never once heard your name mentioned even in passing, and I hope I never hear it again. I have no clue if you are run by Jann or just know him, either way you supported this action on the slopes. You may have deleted the original post - but hey, that's what screenshots are for right? :)

Respect the park rules? Let me rephrase my wording above - YOU ARE IN THE WRONG. Clear enough?

Incidents like this happen all to often, you just happened to catch it on film and were dumb enough to post it live - sorry dude, you f*cked up. You and your brand are entirely what is wrong with some of the skiing community today. You take things into your own hands without even thinking about the given situation. You were mad because a little kid was skiing slower in front of you. Maybe if you'd thought to just reshoot the line you could've gotten something actually worth having on film with the only trick in the world, but then again, you wouldn't have had that sick shot of you punching a little kid down the landing of the jump.

You glad you "got the shot" yet?

When it comes down to it, Jann and Schnuzler & Schnauz; fuck you and fuck your brand.

You've been called out.
