Primal fitness. That's the tagline I was thrown by a fellow editor in late January to describe just what StrengthBox was. Many assignments often came in vague like this so it wasn't a big deal. Typing the words into Google shortly after, brought up this entertaining videos of owner of StrengthBox, Greg Carver. Different indeed.Looking at the StrengthBox website, words such as paleo and primal pop out, and differ from my usual knowledge of my exercise routine. I'm always excited to learn different perspectives and ways of doing things, so when I arrived to the small one-roomed gym, the philosiphy quote on their site made a lot more sense:"StrengthBox is a unique kind of space. It's not a typical health or fitness club. StrengthBox is exactly what its name implies: an industrial-style "box" gym, where real-world fitness is paramount, and where there's lots of room to move, train and get strong."The following images give some visual to the odd, yet very passionate community being built around a new way of exercise. Exercise that focuses on not isolation, but real world exercises that would benefit a hunter and gatherer lifestyle.Techo specs:Nikon D700Nikon 24-70SB 900Stand Kit

Thanks to Femi Doyle-Marshall and Greg Carver for their time and the opporunity to see this community grow.
If you are interested in seeing these exercises in motion, the crew at StrengthBox put this video together. It odd to see so many smiles at an exercise gym, but maybe that is saying something about this new method of exercise. - Pippin twitter.com/pippinlee
