There are approximately 46 days until Puragorty Mountain Resort opens for some early season skiing. 46 days until the students at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado break out their planks to ride the slopes of Purg, Wolf Creek, Silverton and Telluride. 46 days until the professors have to worry about half their class missing on a powder day. 46 days until the snow stoke becomes real, and I don't know about you but 46 days is a long time to wait.
We can only spend our days checking the flex on our friend's new Rossignol Soul 7's, trying on our new Scarpas and looking up past season edits to dull the pain of waiting for the first snowflakes to fall. To clear the air, I'm a student at The Fort, aka Fort Lewis College, Fort Fun, Fort Leisure, the list goes on and on. Durango is no Vail or Breckenridge, but it sure is cool. With Purg 20 minutes away from campus, Wolf Creek a short hour away also Telluride and Silverton close what more could a broke college student ask for? A pass to Purgatory Mountain Resort will get me and some buddies 3 days at the following: Taos, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, Sunlight, Powder Mountain, Telluride, SIlverton, Brian Head, and Grand Targhee.
