During the winter of 2010-2011 the Lake Tahoe region received an astonishing 800 inches of snow and the future never looked brighter for skiers and ski resorts in the area. That winter proved to be the fourth snowiest in the history of the region and no one expected that the area would suffer from one of its worst droughts on record in the years to come.
