well this is a response i had to write to Robert frost's "i am

acquainted with the night", for my ap lit class..i usually choose

poetry when it comes to a literature response(when it is an option)

because it tends to come relatively easy. I never did develop a title....

Some would say I am acquainted with the night,

My emotions the constant flicker of a candle light.

The blood sloshes and swirls within my brain,

The nighttime silence my cure to pain.

The darkness spreads fear and frequent despair.

A tickling tremble a look over the shoulder,

The air is now cool, crisp, and painfully colder

The night squeezes in on your body and soul

Your heart that fading ember, that last glowing coal.

They say life on earth is to walk away from that light.

But when the light disappears you’re nowhere to be found,

You all cower in bed, while I roam around.

A curse to roam the night? A curse I know not true,

People all fear me, what say they of you?

I blow out my candle and stumble to bed,

Why must I sleep when I’m already Dead.

Heres some lyrics i worked on as well just the other night......

Rewinding in reverse

because nothing spells simplicity like writing in free verse.....

Theres no time for the stars when your head is wrapped around mars

No time for simplicity no time for peace.

i like to sit quiet and put my mind at ease

tilt my seat back and run through my dreams.

once in recline set my brainwaves to rewind

peer into the darkness with a strain of pleasure

see my friends lost, a pain you just cant measure.

so many shadows but so few souls

suicidal silhouettes that ran short on goals,

the smoke disperses and here i stand

mind over matter, still one mere man
