Alright, let's start with the basics...

My name is Katrina Nicole, I grew up in Delaware but I have lived in Colorado since I moved here for college in 2007.

J... and she is a bad bitch, basic as fuck, but a bad bitch none the less.

I'm not from your side of the pond but as far as I know, there isn't much skiing in Delaware, how did you get in to it?

I used to be a snowboarder, but some cute guy I was into told me I would be way hotter if I skied, so of course I started skiing. I spent half of that season sketchily making my way down the side of A51. That was six seasons ago; since then I have ditched the boy but kept with the skiing.

Tell me about Sexual Wednesdays...

J. It's Katrina showing that she is not only one of the best girl jib skiers out, but she is also far smarter than all of you.

I thought it would be funny, and it was. It really became more of a statement than I ever intended though, people take themselves, me, skiing, and the internet far too seriously.

How did you deal with the response, some of it was pretty unpleasant...

Initially I found it really upsetting, it has really discouraged me from being more involved in the "industry". It's always interesting to see who people think I am, they are almost always wrong. I feel awful for people who are having such tough times with themselves or the things around them that they feel the need to lash out randomly at others. However it is kind of a blessing in disguise, I spend way less time focused on the internet world of skiing, and more time focused on skateboarding, actually skiing, and being a normal person.

J. Yeah, Kids are really dumb, but sometimes entertaining. I mean, it is the internet, what do you expect? A high level discussion on a woman's role in a modernizing society? Nah, kids wanna hate... or fap.

A few responses accused you of representing women's skiing badly...

That's their mistake, just because I'm a woman and a skier, doesn't mean I represent women's skiing as a whole. I am really hyped to watch kelly sildaru sh*t all over womens skiing though; maybe someday it will just be skiing and we can all hold ourselves to the same standards. If I'm going to take credit for representing anyone, I would like all of my actions to be direct reflections on white people who like floral, libertarians, students, and people without indoor voices.

On the bright side, the edits put you in the spotlight for the first time. As I understand you picked up a bunch of sponsors. What's it like suddenly being a sponsored skier?

I can let you know after this season haha. All of my sponsors came in after my season was over this year. So far they have all been super supportive so I look forward to working with them this winter. This has the potential to be my most fun and productive winter yet.

Whats your take on competitions? Will we be seeing you competing this coming winter?

I ski because its fun, its not my job. I don't think competitions are that fun typically so I don't like doing them; it's even worse when you have to be in a "ladies division" because the turnout is usually poor, and I have enough attendance awards from kindergarten. I may try to sneak out to R2R this winter but we will see. I intend to retake the MCAT and I am working a lot this fall so it may not happen.

J. If she does compete and the judges aren't complete larrys, she will win.

Your also down for skateboarding, does that inspire your skiing or do you prefer to keep things separate?

I am a very mediocre skateboarder at best. But skateboarding is amazing, I really picked it back up last year after my best friends told me I had to learn how to skate or I couldn't come with them to the skatepark anymore to hang out. Skateboarding has changed everything about how I see skiing, for the best in my eyes. It forces you to be more creative, it also reminds you that most of skiing is pussy-ish in comparison and to sack up.

This summer you headed over to Norway, how was that?

Norway is amazing, it was my first trip to Europe and my first time alone out of the country. Norway was incredible, it's beautiful, the people are so friendly, and the resorts DGAF about anything so you can literally jib everything.

Any crazy stories from that trip? What surprised you most about Norway?

Yes, though most of them are definitely not appropriate to share to this audience haha. I did get to climb to the top of a mountain at 2am where there was a giant field of the most delicious wild blueberries and a supermooon and copious amounts of hash and moonshine. I also skinny dipped in 7 degree Celsius glacial run-off. You learn a lot about yourself and about the people you travel with on trips like this. I will do a lot of things differently on my next trip.

While we're on stories, Jon, hit me with your top 3 Katrina Nicole moments...

1. The time she took her mom skiing at keystone and we all yelled "Dump Em" at her all day in front of her mom, good times.

2. When she came to masters and I don't remember much else, but we all had a good time and she partied it up with best of them. Also Khai was there, I'll leave it at that.

3. When she claimed that if she got 10,000k hits on one of her videos that she would dump em out, and then never did and we all lost hope and then, BAM right when we thought she never would, she didn't. Thats ok, she is still a cool chick.

ALT. Right after we first met she rolled up to my 29th b day, I didn't know her well but she rolled deep with blunts and rum and partied hard, thus proving that she is a bad bitch.

People probably don't know that you're also one of the more 'educated' skiers out there, what's your background?

I have a couple engineering degrees, and I will be getting out of my grad program in Integrative Physiology in December. I don't know if I would consider myself an "educated skier" because I think that implies that most skiers aren't educated which isn't the case, you just don't hear about it as much as you should. I think there is a lot to be said for obtaining an education whether that means internships and career experiences, college, trade schools, whatever; there is more to life than skiing, and a large part of that is being employed in some fashion and making an income, hopefully doing something you love. It is easier to do that when you have an education.

And now you're a lecturing at UC Boulder, hows that going?

I don't lecture, I don't like talking in front of big groups. My students all sit around a giant conference table with me, that's more my style. I really love teaching, but not a huge fan of making a career in collegiate academia, so once I graduate in December I probably won't teach at the college level anymore.

Have your students seen your edits?

I know some of them have. If they ever bring it up I just ask that they keep non-academic topics on hold for outside of class. I am a professional while I am teaching and I expect my students to behave that way as well.

Moving on, you're one of the few female skiers I've seen go out and hit urban, is that something you plan to do more of this winter?

Yes, and if Denver actually got snow this winter I would have hit a lot more. That is what I really want out of skiing this year. Hopefully now that Hartman is done getting married Hotpossie can get our crap together and maybe crank out a movie next year.

728981.jpeg

Jon, tell me about Hot Possie, how did you end up linking up with Katrina?

J. If you don't know about Hot Possie, we are a group of Satan worshiping goat herders from interior Mongolia. Katrina actually lined up through our filmer JeffKray, they are both from Delaware and people from shitty places seem to like reminiscing. She came to the masters with us in sun valley and showed that she had what it takes to be in skiing's least exclusive crew.

Hot Possie movie this winter?

J. Maybe, there will for sure be edits. If our schedules overlap enough and we get enough snow in the city then we will try our best to make Meth Babies 2 // The Methening. It helps that me and Trina have a few of the same sponsors so that may lead to some more overlap, if you don't see another Hot Possie movie you can plan on catching some of our antics in other projects.

Will Sexual Wednesdays be back this winter?

I will be back with something this season. I think #sexualwednesday may have run its course. I make edits because I think they are fun and funny, when those things aren't happening it's time to move on.

If you could go back and tell your teenage self one thing, what would it be?
