I can't even comprehend how someone would even think / come up with the idea of a union for pro skier's due to that being completely idiotic. Unions are beyond corrupt hence why union bosses run the show and make the rules, it's all bureaucracy. Skiers just need to learn to stop being morons, such as not letting companies use your content unless they pay you. The amount of free marketing ski companies get due to stupid kids giving away their content and shots for free is insane. The younger generation just needs to learn how to position themselves and use leverage against these companies.
If there's any law students on NS start a series that teaches people how negotiating / business deals actually work.
I understand its an aggressive stance but it needs to be said and understood. Unions like many systems / association's are a great idea but they never work. The amount of corruption, politics, etc that are apart of unions is off the charts and needs to be talked amount more. Hence why the "little guy" still gets screwed or perhaps even more since the union bosses pretend like they care/ help you.
That's why I'm interested to see how it goes in 20-30 years with the ski patrollers unionizing. Once the older generation doesn't see "eye to eye" with the younger generation that's when will see how it plays out. Plus those older ski patrollers will control the union which will be interesting as well.
This can work for "niche" / smaller groups but for massive companies it's always bad news. Look at any major city and the worst are old ones; NY, Boston, Philly, Detroit etc.
I work in the restaurant industry and for the past year I was in Miami helping open a new restaurant. It was finished 6 months late, from when it was supposed to be open. Not a surprise when a bunch of union construction workers are getting paid by the hour and doing absolutely nothing. You also have to hire them because in any major city the unions have the politicians in their pocket. Look up the "big dig" in Boston. It was supposed to cost 2.8 Billion and it ended up costing 24 billion hahaha. I wonder where all that money from the tax payers went...
only sheep see truth as aggressive!
turns need to be earned, not handed out. begging for sponsors so you dont have to work? i really hope that was a joke, because my career was self funded, and shits on any orange name on this site.
NS is directly to blame for the destruction of freeskiing. they controlled sponsors, stole funding, and manipulated the community. Thats the reason no one uses this site anymore, 30 seconds ads to watch a video some kid posted for FREE, just to get some exposure at dreaming of a sponsor.
then there are the pros that took a decade of sponsor money while younger kids coming up got nothing for schooling tom wallisch switchup game. tom wallisch trained skiing away from freestlye, also destroying the idea of open training and competition to water ramps and baby bag tricks.
michele parker doesnt need redbull money, her mommy funds her ski career, and she should be grateful and pass the sponsors along.
