Keep in mind, this interview took place during the summer of 2011 - some of the info is now outdated.

-------

Last summer, I was a lowly intern at Powder Magazine. In between the time I spent making photocopies, renaming files on the server, and archiving previous issues, I did what any other kid would: scour newschoolers. . I made my way to the “top-rated” section, and I found an edit from someone who was – well, decidedly Scandinavian. For some reason, this kid caught my eye. I don’t really know why. Perhaps it was his dedication to lazy-boys, or maybe it was the track he used for his season edit: “Hits From the Bong” by Cyprus Hill. Whatever the reason, I was taken by his edit. So much so that I watched it on repeat whenever I had the chance. Associate Editor Mike Rogge happened to pass by as I watched the edit, and asked me to seek out this kid to ask him a few questions. After six emails and twelve Facebook messages, we managed to find out who exactly this kid was. Little did we know that between the time we conducted this interview and now would Lucas be catapulted from loc-dog killer to Level 1 star. Joining the likes of Corey Vanular, Tom Wallisch, Jon Brogan, and all of the other Superunkown winners, Lucas clearly demonstrates that personality and individual style ultimately reigns supreme.

Where are you from?

Stockholm, Sweden. East Coast baby!

2. What is your home mountain?

It used to be one of the small local hills in Stockholm. At best, we would have one jump and three rails. But two years ago, I moved to a school all the way up to the article circle to be able to ski more. My home resort is called Loussavaara, so that’s where I ski park. And we also got Riksgränsen, which has great backcountry access.

3. How far are you from skiing?

I live about ten minutes from Loussavaara, and it is about an hour drive to Riksgränsen.

4. How old are you?

I’m nineteen.

5. How long have you been skiing?

I have been skiing since I was very little, but I started jibbing and skiing park when I was about fourteen.

6. Do you have sponsors? What sort of arrangement do you have with them?

Yes. I sent Electric a sponsor tape last year, and I got hooked up with them that way. Last season, I won a competition where the prize was sponsorship from Atomic and The North Face. They have expired now, but apparently they liked my edit and what I’ve been doing this year. I think they want to keep giving me free products and hopefully a travel budget in the future.
