with skiing everyone can be themselves and have there own style and ur free to basically do w/e you want you don't have to conform and do wat everyone else is doing
Chris Rubens said it perfectly in SSD skiing could be compared to crack its addicting and once you start you never wanna stop all your problems in the world disappear landing a new trick makes u feel like your the king of ur own little world and basically when ur in the mountains u r in your own little world no one can touch you and if there are people around you there eyes are on u
It wasn't easy for me to start skiing, when I was younger, I tried it a few times and fell in love. It wasn't so easy from there, the 'rents never thought about getting me any equipment because they thought it was a "phase" that I would grow out of. Needless to say, when I was able I bought my first pair of skis. I was on the hill every chance I could get, taking it in, having great conversations with people on the lift that you will probably never see again.
The beauty of skiing isn't just the friends, or freedom, but a culmination of so many things that it's hard to list. There are people that I have met, where I don't know their names, and they don't know mine, but the time we spent on the hill won't ever leave my memory. There are times where its just me on the hill and I have a grin from ear to ear just because I'm skiing.
One more thing, in some magazine awhile back there was an article about some father that took his son skiing. Once the pair were off the hill the father told his son something about how taking off your ski boots is one of the greatest feelings that skiing has to offer. Now I'm not saying that he should get his boots fitted, but what about the anticipation of your skis hitting the snow, the feeling of going through powder, the thrill of being in the air, the wind roaring around you as you tear down a run. Why isn't the greatest feeling skiing has to offer putting your boots on?
I love skiing because i get to be with my friends get away from problems, just kick back rip with my best friend, learning new tricks with your friends who are great motivators. also due to the fact that you do what you want, its not a team effort its just about skiing trees ducking under ropes to ski that freshly blown snow, and just have a good time RIPPING!!!!!
skiing just helps me relax, like on fridays after school when i just bombed a test, I come out to the hill, and stick the 270 out, 360, whatever, and you just forget about life, and realize, "Man, i love this."
i love that as many people are as crazy about skiing as i am. they know what skiing means to you and its nice to be able to share a passion with other people like that. you talk about threads on newschoolers. you talk about the latest ski movie. you talk about the time you stomped your first 360. you call each other when classes let out and all you have to say is are you ready? whos driving? everyone knows whats up. and when youre skiing its all about you and your own progression. not what the pros are doing and what you can't do. its about what you can do and making it better. its about trying new things and styles. i love it all.
I love the feeling i get when i stomp the shit outta soemthing, or see my buddy stomp the shit outta something or seeing someone i dont even know stomp the shit outta somehting.
i love skiing because its always there for me..i missed a couple of years due to leukemia and now im better and i am happy because skiing is still there for me
