So winter is finaly here at last with

the lecht and cairngorm opening for business on friday 31st october.

Giving scotland the accolade of the first non-glacial lift served turns

in Europe. but

i`m still pondering on the idea of going skiing at the weekend. will it

really be worth it or not? The only thing what is puting me off is the

fact i don`t drive and i`ll have to hitch hike for miles to ethir

cairngorm or the lecht,or i could just wait till there his more snow

and go ski touring around C.N.S,C.L.K in the southern cairngorms.

Weather

permitting the lecht will have three lift open on friday. The

eagle, grouse and the snowy owl are provisionally scheduled. The the

lifts what are scheduled to open have been pisted wednesday 29th giving

full width cover of machine packed powder with some thinner areas.

Cairngorm mountain

could be opening on friday 31st october? With possibility of limited

skiing of the funicular. The summit runs caught most of the snow with a

lot of drifting in the top basin area. This will be reviewed on friday

morning.

As for glenshee, nevis range and glencoe, there is not quite enough snow for them to open yet.
