Ever since I started freeskiing I’ve always looked up to Armada as one of the raddest companies in the game. From the products the produced, to the riders that flew their colors, to the content they sponset/put out there was something about Armada that captivated me more than most other ski brands could. Buying my first pair of Armada’s felt like buying my first pair of Jordan’s, I felt like the coolest kid in school. Recently however, my opinions have taken a turn.
On my recent trip to Mt. Hood while putting my boots on in the lot one morning, a huge gust of wind blew my Edollo’s, which were leaning against my truck, to the ground. Upon picking them up, I discovered that one of my edges completely blew up on both sides of the ski. It looks like my ski has a big ole laceration.
As you can imagine I was pretty disappointed, especially after all those skis had been through. This wasn’t a rail, rock, log, or tree stump that caused this, it was the result of having my skis in the wrong place at the wrong time and I paid the price for it (now I can see why everyone laid their skis and snowboards flat on the ground at timberline).
I know that no products are invincible, and that natural wear and tear occurs over the course of time, but i took good care of these whips and would expect them to hold up in these instances. Are Armada’s products not as durable as they used to be? Do any companies make shit to last anymore? If so, what brands do you find to be the best in terms of quality and durability?
