Pretty sure it has to do with an increased number of sand storms this year. I remember reading a thread on TGR about it happening in the Sierras as well.

yea sandstorms aka, 60mph winds up there for like 3 days causing the massive amount of dirt from around the mountain to blow everywhere including my eyes

The snow is real nice in the mornings til about noon. The lower half of the mountain definitely gets a bit slushy after about 11:30-12:30 if its sunny out, if it stays mostly cloudy all day the snow stays really damn nice all day (its crazy).
