On friday april 3rd lil punk and i went on a little snow hunting

adventure in the southern cairngorms to find some snow and actually ski

for the first time this month, instead of dumbing about being board

thinking about skiing.

We set off from

dalmunzie house hotel at 8.00am for the long slow slog up gleann

taitneach with a perfect spring bluebird day. The walk up into clas

choire mor was long, slow and a painful process in the warm spring sun.

From the C.C.M path we boot-packed up glas choire mor, then up the

south east facing slope of sron na saobhaidh and on to the ridge

between glas choire mor and glas choire bheag. From the S.N.S ridge we

ascended west, then south west to the summit of glas tulaichean (1051

meters). From the summit we headed north east for about 0.5 kilometres

to the top the decent.

The snow conditions in the choosing line

were pretty good spring like snow, but a wee bit wet what made for

tough skiing. We weren’t complaing, after all it’s april so you can’t

expect better snow conditions and even thou the decent was only 300

meters, it was still worth the effort.

We took our skis

off were the snow ran-out and walk the rest of the way down glas choire

mor and descended back down gleann taitneach to dalmunzie house hotel.
