With the announcement last week that the Whistler Ski Invitation would not be returning in 2016, many in the freeskiing community were left to wonder what was a good justification for heading to Whistler in late March.

WHISTLER, BC March 2, 2016 – Whistler Blackcomb will host the third and final stop of DC’s global ‘Hit & Run’ event on March 26-27 2016. The event is snowboard only and geared towards intermediate to advanced park riders of all ages. The course will combine slopestyle hits and banked slalom turns, testing overall riding ability.

“We are super excited to be the host resort for the last stop of the DC Hit & Run event,” says Brian Finestone, Whistler Blackcomb Terrain Parks Manager. “It’s the ultimate combo of speed and park skills so I’m looking forward to seeing the cross-section of riders we attract. You are going to have to be fast but style will have a major impact on times, so we will see who can do it all.”

The category breakdown for the event includes Men Youth (15 and under), Men Open (16+), Men Pro (all ages) and Women Pro (all ages).

Riders will rank based on their overall time, but will receive time deductions based on the difficulty and execution of their tricks. The Hit & Run Award and cash prizes will be given to the first ($1,500), second ($1,000) and third ($500) fastest times for Men’s Pro and the fastest overall time for the Women’s Pro ($1,000) category. The Best Trick Award and $500 will be given to the rider throwing down the most impressive trick.

Registration costs $45 per competitor prior to the event, rising to $50 on March 26. Snowboarders looking for more information or to register for the DC Hit & Run event on March 26-27 2016 can visit:http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/HITANDRUN
