this release did not make me want to go to stowe anyways, the one video showed the samr rail over and over again and it looked shitty anyways. Definetly wont be going there.
Stowe is a great mountain like Stowner said, it has some of the best freeski terrain in the east, and his assesment of the park is straight on. Stowe doesnt put its heart, or more importnetly its wallet into the park at all. Im not a huge park rider so it doenst bother me too much, but it is really annoying to see nothing but poorly shaped jumps and really icy landings when the rest of the mountain is so great. Im not asking for a park like Stratton or Okemo, thats not what Stowe is about, but just a little effort could keep everyone happier and safer in the park and pipe.
the song is Grits - Ooh Ahh just in case anyone was wondering. that being said, i know what you guys mean about the whole catering to the old instead of the new, stowe is not the only place that happens. i just wish like all you guys do that people will eventually see the future and help out the park, because on shitty days i dont want to ski the bumps, i'd rather hang out in a nice park. theres nothing better than a powder day, and on those i want to ski big mountain, but on crappy days lets have some entertainment for us, not some crappy tourist wearing jeans and sunglasses.
yeah stowe's park is a fucking joke. their park manager apparently doesnt understand the concept of a lip, half of their pipe is ice while the other is slush, and the rails are set up so poorly they're occasionally impossible
They've got a new guy in charge of grooming the park and pipe this year, and he's been grooming out at Hood in the past. Hopefully that will swing things around. Until then, I'm glad that Stowe is making an effort to cater towards new school shit. Any improvement they make to the parks is great in my eye, because I'll be skiing there no matter what. No where else in the east can touch the natural terrain that Mansfield offers.
^so incredibly wrong. "no where else in the east can touch the natural terrain the Mansfield offers." Dude, get out of conglomorate stowe and into the back country, especially if you think you can claim knowledge of the best spots. ever heard of mt. washington? pretty sure it kicks mansfields' ass, as fun as stowe is.
Thats good news they've got a new guy in charge of grooming I definately hope he does a better job than the previous park builders.
Jeff-
I'm with you that Washington kills Mt. Mansfield, but I'd definately say that Mt Mansfield offers the best lift acessed backcountry in the East. And I wouldn't call out dub on not knowing where the spots are because I'm pretty sure he's spent about 10 times as much time there as you
