it is very sad indeed... those who have been to this event know what i am talking about!!! there was a very special feel about this event, with great concerts (especially turbo negro) and an overall great vibe amongst all of the euro riders and n.a. riders... but, i promise to keep the banana bar spirit alive!!!! RIP EO LAAX
This is sad news. Very sad news. I lived in Laax for a season and this event was a ton of fun. More so than any other ski related festival or contest, I think.
Haha, huck_this... you're skye, right? Keep the banana bar rocking.
@Dilated: but freesking is still a growing sport. i cant see why none of the companies wants to support this contest. it was pretty famous and THE event in europe. one of the best opportunities to show your brand and i therefore find it pretty weird too.
to be honest, freeskiing is while not on the decline, in the maturity phase (if you know marketing). the fast growth of the first 10 years of the new millenium was something that you cannot keep up with.
face it or not, but freeskiing wont be "cool" in 10-15 years. no problem for me, but there wont be as much people doing it, much less people sponsored (its kinda too much right now imo), and less commitment from companies and resorts.
it would be dumb to hold onto that forever. its a trend sport and per definition dying in the second another trend comes up.
