Sound interesting for sure. Hopefully this will turn out as a boost for our sport, but I'm scared that FIS will make too many silly rules, like the straight air thing they got going for snowboard halfpipe in the olympics. That sh** is messed up..
I think it's a great thing for exposure of the sport, and it is necessary to have major competitions and exposure like that so people can live from the sport. And there will always be comp skiing and filming for videos or plain freeride, so I don't think olympics will have an important impact on the way people ski. Just look at how Nimbus have had such a great success with approach, which is the complete opposite of pipe comps, while everyone says that skiing is starting to look like aerials... What I mean is that there will always be an important place for style and creativity, and that olympics offer an incomparable opportunity to anyone who likes to compete on a serious level.
This will most certainly bring this sport to the masses. Look at how snowboarding became mainstream after the Olympics with all the Shaun White want-to-bes. Hang on to your hats, its gonna get crazy! Love this!
