i paid $159 to ski there last week, and it was money well spent. i had the best day of skiing in 11 years. i'm so satisfied that i don't even crave another day this year. that's how good it was. no joke - no sarcasm.

yeah but honestly if you're on it and buy an epic pass before they stop selling them for the year (late november) they're really affordable compared to other passes around the country, particularly given how much quality skiing you're getting access to

god, i hate vail. Its a great mountain, but i just can't stand it. They know that they are a "destination resort" and rich people from across the country will fly there and pay whatever they charge. Even it is a ridiculous and $159 a day.

The one thing I have to point out is what @fuzzball said - yes this is a really freaking unreal steep price for one day... but the epic pass program is almost unmatched for skiing affordability.

Epic pass is still a killer deal though haters can hate but as long as that pass stays cheap I really care what they sell a day ticket for.

It makes perfect sense for them financially. And I can guarentee you that Vail was still packed on those $159 days. I hope more resorts adopt the dynamic pricing plan for lift tickets. Its a win win for the resort and the skier. I skied a day in November in Tahoe for $20. Not too bad.

Yeah man corporations shouldn't be making a profit maaaaannnn the mountains are for everyone maaaaaannnn. They hook you up with a sweet Epic pass and no one praises them and you all shank the fuck out of them when you can't get a day pass for cheap? Y'all are ungrateful.

Life Hack: if you get stuck on a vail resorts mountain lift, and you have to wait for over20 minutes, they give everyone on the lift a free day pass to any vr mountain

"You don't get it do you? Vail Resorts isn't trying to be an asshole, or just charging this for fun.. they are charging it to control visits. The place is ridiculously crowded on holidays, so instead of turning people away they are charging more to weed out many of the day visitors. In FACT Vail resorts has the CORRECT plan for keeping locals happy in regards to cost per day of skiing. They supply an amazing pass and then charge Texas gapers hand over fist to fill in the gaps. I am not a Vail resorts cheerleader, I would rather have Colorado be all be independent ski areas... but skiing is a business and the Epic pass works to get me on lots of mountains for a cheap price."

Of course, I still wish day tickets weren't going in this direction. There's always so much talk of trying to get new people on the mountain, and day tickets are where they are going to get started.

To whoever writes... "Vail is so average" you are an idiot. You know what is "so average" MINNESOTA or a normal icy day on the east coast. Oh you know what is more "so average" than Vail in regards to terrain.. PARK CITY! But nobody talks shit on that mountain. I am not happy about Vail resorts tyrannical plans either, but to call the mountain itself low quality is simply incorrect.
