Good job choosing your classy NS shirt or Mets T over a pressed and colored button-up. While I do think you'd look more stunning in a Sox jersey...
I liked the little eye into the business world behind a desk, and knowing I'm not the only one who doesn't want to be a part of it! Thanks for the inspiration Mike.
"parasitic freelancer" lol I love it Rogge... gold!
But didn't you get the memo? Schmuck promoted you to "moderately helpful freelancer" so see you're moving up!
In all seriousness though, this site wouldn't exist without the help of Journalists like you. (and you too Julie, and all the other wicked people that have done work for us!!)
Word man. As i sit here in a cubical at my GIS internship with my provincal government I realized very quickly this isn't something I will be able to do longer then a summer. there is a strong feeling of disconnect with these people although they are all super nice and helpful.
Follow your passions and you'll be happy in life. thats my plan and it sounds like yours too!
I was an intern at a small paper just outside of Boulder last summer, and my first day sounds just like yours. I found it funny how engrossed everyone at the paper was in the little nothings happening in the town. If a cat got stuck in a tree, everyone was talking about it for a week. Not my world now, and not a world I want to end up in. (I also failed a drug test, and that didn't make my experience with my coworkers there any better.) Regardless of pay, (and most small newspapers don't pay much either) I would much rather be on snow and living the lifestyle I currently live than sitting at a desk wondering what I am missing... for now, anyway.
