The Juan Maclean "Less Than Human"
http://www.mediafire.com/?ad4i93ktxab
This album is arguably my favorite electronic album to be released in the last five years. Headed by John (Juan) Maclean of LCD Soundsystem fame, the Juan Maclean is a freak show that is made up of countless synthesizers, turntables, driving drum beats and almost manic vocals. The Juan Maclean is not to be missed.
Booka Shade "Momento"
http://www.mediafire.com/?amtnbxiumdo
This duo put on one of the best shows I've seen all year. No questions asked. The two producers are brilliant and their use dynamic range is sickening (especially live with a dope ass system). One perched upon a massive rack of E-drums and percussion instruments, the other finds himself surrounded by an onslaught of various synths. These guys are fire.
The New Deal "Gone Gone Gone"
http://www.mediafire.com/?bcdvgzfxt05
This is one of the first albums that really got me interested in electronic music. This concept album is definitely one of my favorites. This trio from Canada is well known for their wild live shows. They haven't been touring like they used to because their bass player is touring with Duran Duran (ha!!$$$$).
Baby Mammoth "Seven Up"
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HMT6QUKT
Baby Mammoth is undeniably the most obscure artist in this blog entry but easily one of the most unique. The beats are a smooth like butter and have ill funk inspired themes. Baby Mammoth also clearly has a lot of jazz influences--listen for the saucy Pat Metheny-esque guitar samples. This makes for a very nice combination when fused with smooth ebb-n-flow grooves. If you like Blockhead, you'll LOVE Baby Mammoth.
MSTRKRFT "The Looks"
http://www.mediafire.com/?fhvzvbpagmy
MSTRKRFT is a straight up dance party. That is all. Turn that shit up loud!
Jamie Lidell "Multiply"
http://www.mediafire.com/?61ylx0eyeim
Jamie Lidell is a one man band. He made this entire album basicaly on his own, playing every instrument on it. Lidell is greatly influenced by old school soul and funk legends like Aretha Franklin, Jackson 5 and Sly & The Family Stone.
Ott "Blumenkraft"
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PFWVSV3A
Ott is straight up dubbed out electronic. Some of the chillest psychedelic electronic music that you will ever hear in your life. "Blumenkraft" is sincerely an unbelievable album and is ALWAYS in heavy rotation. Reggae meets electronic. Uptempo, downtempo and everything in between. I must warn you, this may be the only album you listen to for the next week or so.
