agreed with broki though, this is kind of short notice. definitely a siiick idea, but it would be nice if the contest started a little earlier, or at least we were given more notice. either way, really stoked to see what kids will come up with and bring out some less-known names!
To everyone commenting on this being short notice, that is the reason we are starting with the Backyard jib round as it is something people likely have footage collected from the summer to work with.
They haven't ruled out eastcoast competitors, remember they take your best 5 videos. Just dont rely on backcountry/big mountain to be in your top five...
Regarding the backcountry/big mountain round, keep in mind that backcountry jumps would definitely fall under that category, and that it's only 1 round out of 7 (where as there's multiple rail rounds), so no matter where you're from everyone has a good chance at this, because if you end up entering more than 5 rounds, only your 5 highest average ratings will count and the other ones will be discarded. So you don't have to enter that round if you don't want to or aren't able to.
We were originally going to have backcountry jumps and big mountain as separate categories, but realized that doing so wouldn't be fair to people who don't have the available terrain, so we combined them. And we really couldn't justify running a contest called The Best Skier On The Internet without including that aspect of skiing (same goes for halfpipe).
