Personally I thought that the video failed at creating a medium in which the viewer can get a clear glimpse of a pro skiers' season and its quite evident throughout the video. What we the audience view are a bunch of clips that are strum together with no coherency.
The point of these episodes was to provide something revolutionary...a video that showed the ups and down of a ski season. Quite honestly they have failed...for example narration was simply not there.
They really didn't provide background information about where they were skiing, whats going through their mind when about to hit a line or even the ups and down of the day. Without this narration I didn't feel connected to the skier and more importantly the purpose of the movie. Don't get me wrong the skiing was amazing but the medium in which they presented it was stereotypical; as of right now its just another movie with endless clips and music.
Yea ben but it really is the only first webisode. they didnt say we will put bad clips and bails where people get hurt and had bad days in every clip...
Also, they didn't always clear the athletes out of the camera view when it was someones run such as big companies do now. it was more of a crew seshing something together which I enjoyed. It was not divided into individuals segments such as many movies.
^hmmmm, no. this is webisode 1 of 5... i'm sure tribulations will come. and thank god there's no narration, i hate that shit.
this was soooo sick! i love the way these guys ski and use terrain. Pep continues to blow my mind with style, grace, and downright insane technicality. and D-Hood slayed!! everyone did really. (not too much Mahre footy, why...??) way to go boys, can't wait for the next one!
i agree, i thought that the production so far doesnt stand up to that of something like War or Realtime. given it is different and this is only the first episode, but i think if you gave any NS kid a camera like that and the skiers to shoot, they could produce something similar to this. i didnt get the feel that this was professionally done..
i totally disagree with that. look in the videos section filmerguy.. did yuo see someones promo the other day? worse filming ever. seriously half of the people on this site wouldnt even use a tripod if they were given one...
I thought they were sick, and the filming wasn't all that amatuer really. I think they just filmed it this way to kind of give it a close knit feel, and show what their season is really like. It's like VT Scratch said, the episodes are not divided into individual segments like most movies, so it really shows how the guys grow off each other and are just having fun, which is how the sport really is, and how these pro's spend their seasons. I would rather watch these videos than a film with segments of only a single pro skiing at a time. They are something we can relate to considering most people don't ski all alone, and it shows that these guys are just having fun, which is the best thing.
