Parking at the mountain, bump the music as you get ready outside the car with some of your close friends, head to the ticket booth, get that free ticket (90% of the time) if you work where i work, throw the skis down onto the freshly paved snow, kick the snow around a bit, pop into those bindings, pop up on your noses, toke up that gondala, in a stoned daze check out the view, hit the mountain, stress disappears with every carve, when the day ends, its road trip home after getting some munchies, then get home and sip on some good shit and do it all over again the next morning...is there any better?

I love skiing because it allows you to escape reality and just have a good time. Not to mention the link it gives you with other skiers, i cant even count the number of friends i have made only because of skiing. I mean look at Newschoolers- A freeskiing community.

I love skiing because it enables me to do the impossible. With skis, I can jump off of a 20 foot cliff and ride away with no injuries. On foot, I tend to trip over cracks in the sidewalk.

skiin is a part of me. it is in me and thats what makes me love it so much, I love goin down a steep long face after a huge dump and gettin to the bottom covered in snow with burning legs but still eager for more. I love bombin down fresh corduroy making huge arcs and feelin like a train and that u wont leave the tracks no matter what.

but mostly I live skiing for the places that I travel to and people i meet because if i didnt ski i wouldent go vacation where i do or meet the amazing people that i have met

skiing is life

"Bottom line, the thing I love about skiing is the way it allows you to detach from all the things in your life that might be stressing you out or causing any sort of anxiety. From the first second you step into your bindings on a good day, it seems like all of your troubles couldn't be further away. I've never been very good at buddhist meditation, but I think skiing is a perfectly decent substitute. It helps me clear my mind and find peace.

Oh yeah, and skiing trees on a powder day is an indescribable rush. Your non-skier friends will never understand this sort of feeling. That's the other reason I love skiing. When I have a particularly satisfying day of shredding, it gets me higher than any drug ever could, and I feel incredibly euphoric. It's as close as I could imagine coming to proving the existence of a benevolent, fun-loving god." -WayBackMachine

AMEN to that!

I love skiing because it gives me a reason to live. Being a college student, where everybody is focused on papers, midterms, and internships, skiing takes me out of that persona and lets me be myself. It lets me enjoy the life I was gratefully given, and makes me realize that no matter how well I do in school, or how successful I become or do not become, that it will always be there for me. Skiing is the best escape, the best way to relax, the best way to spend your free time. It gives me a reason to be alive, and that's all I ask for. That is why I love it...

I love skiing because it is an escape. No past, no future, just you and the mountain. It allowes you to get away from bills, jobs, and all other problems, and for 5-10 (however long your run is) minutes, just relax and be free.

Translating my love for skiing into words is near enough impossible. Skiing so much more than just one thing, that giving a single reason for loving it not only seems impossible, but also seems unjustified. Skiing is never the same day in day out. I dont love skiing per say, but everything it comes with. The freedom, the surroundings, the adrenaline and the frustration. Its not the mere motion of skiing to leads us all to love it, its the lifestyle that surrounds it. Even after the most frustrating day on the moutain, the afterski pint and antisipation to get back on it is what keeps us going. We love skiing because it becomes a way of life and that cant be hated on. Its bittersweet relationship with nature, friends and passion that nobody could turn their back on.
