Bottom line, the thing I love about skiing is the way it allows you to detach from all the things in your life that might be stressing you out or causing any sort of anxiety. From the first second you step into your bindings on a good day, it seems like all of your troubles couldn't be further away. I've never been very good at buddhist meditation, but I think skiing is a perfectly decent substitute. It helps me clear my mind and find peace.
Oh yeah, and skiing trees on a powder day is an indescribable rush. Your non-skier friends will never understand this sort of feeling. That's the other reason I love skiing. When I have a particularly satisfying day of shredding, it gets me higher than any drug ever could, and I feel incredibly euphoric. It's as close as I could imagine coming to proving the existence of a benevolent, fun-loving god.
I love the combination of being a solo and team sport. No one can pass you the ball but they can get the in the air follow shot a few feet away as you both fly 60 feet in the sunny skies of Breck. At the end of the day nothing can compare to one spent on the most spectacular venue of all sports, the mountains. Hanging with the your friends, pushing each other to keep moving forward. We all know without skiing we would be fucking weird.
I love skiing because since before I can remember I have been on skis. My parents strapped me in when I was two and it's been a marriage ever since. Its one thing in life that is there year after year, and every year I'm more excited then I was the previous season. And face shots in the deep pow.
I love skiing cause it make you forget about your problem and everything for a day. It's just you and the mountain. No matter what happen in your life, you know your gonna have a lot of fun.
Freedom, plain and simple. You are out there on your own terms, and you don't have to worry about winning the game or making the playoffs, you just ski. Also, landing a new trick that you've been trying for a while or stomping a line feels awesome
No, in all seriousness, skiing isnt my first memory and ive not skied since i was three, skiing is much newer to me, and i love it because its a beautiful escape from every other pressure that I've been told to care about.
skiing gives us something that i cant get out of other sports.. just something about crusing down even the easiest of trails with a bunch of friends having a great time.. everyone is smiling when we are skiing
I Love skiing because no matter what, its always there when you need a release. I've found that everything from a fight with my parents, to the passing of a buddy can be helped with a few runs on the hill. Its the most pure, natural medicine for all my headaches, heartbreaks, and down days. Its the only thing that defines true happiness for me, and the answer to questions i can't seem to find the answer to. You can do it with friends, you can do it with loved ones, or you can do it alone, skiing doesn't discriminate. Its your alternate personality when you need one, and a way to connect with people you might not be able to connect with otherwise. Skiing to me is cold days, soar nights, Maine sunsets, and sharing times with friends that help shape who I am. Skiing is my reason for waking up in the morning...
Please don't vote for Clinton, she probably has something against skiing too...
