Thanks for all the great work guys! Sad to hear this news and I can only wish you guys the best for the future! Have fun, enjoy the pow this winter and good luck with the kids! See you on the mountain in a near future!
I gotta say, I certainly am sad to see it go! High north was the driving force that birthed me into this world of skiing. The first year I went there I was 19 years old and could barely do a 360. I can safely say that I learned everything I knew about newschool skiing from there.
After 3 years of being a camper, Shane was kind enough to take me under his wing as a digger. I met many of the people that I know today, and the connections I made there have helped me be where I am right now.
High North was the first gleaming beacon of hope for a core skier. It was the only place where you could go and fully bathe yourself in the new skiing movement, and meet others who felt the same. As Freeze magazine used to call it, it was the pirate ship leading the Armada that was becomng newschool skiing.
Thanks to all the high north staff that started this newschool movement, and thanks to the staff that made it amazing throughout the years.
All good things must come to an end, and as I said to Shane the other day this is almost like a Gary Larson move. You guys remember him? Far Side comics? Well he retired when he was at the height of his career because he didn't want to ever make a comic that wasn't funny. I look at this the same way.... Shane started this shit, and when he felt it wasn't going to be the product he wanted, is walking away gracefully.
Gotta also take this opportunity to give love to all the diggers that there ever were. You were the soldiers that made the backbone of this camp, and we certainly had some of the best times of my life.
