just watch all his segment back in the days... (royalty, ski movies, etc..) man he was throwing unnat flatspin 3 like nobody... may be this guy was not the best railer, but he is the most technical guy on jumps. we fucking dont care about his skis, his art(hobbie) for his skiing. seriously i cant believe how u are.. how can i explain it... the real NEWSCHOOLERS of skiing. loving to watch PBP's movies and hoping to suck one of these riders... just buy old movies and watch underground riders (ex: Cedric Tremblay Fournier, who was throwing 450 in on handrail in 2002 and never got the exposure he needed to have.) Im sick on how people there on NS are wack, how they want to get sponsored, how they want free stuff, how they want to know a pro rider. Im pretty sure u havent seen Assault and never seen Antoine skiing.
P.-S Pep and Eric are not the same rider, u cant judge skier from one movie... and remember IDEA is a documentary
I would say my favorite skier is Stefan Thomas. One because hes the reason i bought twin tips and two he drips with steeze and keeps it real. The i would have to go with Jon just because he is flawless and trying to push the sport to the limit. Jossi Wells comes third because he's maybe just 17 or still 16 and he kills it so hard it ridiculous. The rest of the wells bros are killing it too.
Wow, sick article. So much good rider with their own stlye and abilities.
Gagnier brothers definetely in there for their style, attitude and creativity,
Tanner for beeing the best of them all, everywhere
Pollard, Pep and Andy for everything they does, so different than any other stuff,
Schiller for his style, so crazy,
David Crichton, this guy was the man, so stylish and technical, handrails, jump, pipe, he had everything
Those guys have made their proof, they're already legend even though they're still riding. I like how a lot of riders are riding too, like Stefan Thomas, Cedric Tremblay-Fournier and Bibby, but all in all, those guys above have killed it and are still killing it !
1. tanner. like it was said above, tanner does everything well. hes arguably not the best at one specific aspect, but absolutly kills it at everything. i thought tanner was good, but after seeing believe and rewatching that cork 3 in 1242 several times, he is takeing the top spot.
2. abma. just like tanner he kills it at everything. he skis fast, agressive, in control, and looks like hes always having fun. he charges and goes huge on big mountain lines plus can throw down in the park like its nobodys business.
3. (the cop out tie) seth, pep, pollard. i cant decide. i mean seth is seth, the guy rips. pep's segment in 1242 changed how good i thought he was, and how i thought people could ski, and this was 2 years after that movie came out. i mean come on, there was no music in that segment, that was serious. pollard is a revolutionary skier in every aspect, from designing crazy fun skis, to perfecting his own style and way of skiing.
i love to see pollard up there three times. his style of skiing is second to none he methodicly makes every turn and spin in his head four turns before be has to and because of that it creates a smooth steezy line that i have a hard time comparing to anyone in the freeskiing community
tanner, for just being such a big part of the sport, pollard for being an intelectual and an artist in the sport, and candide for just throwing it down with style- great article
Candide- he made pipe legit, and go watch an old movie like happy days and he went bigger and had better shit than anyone. he did the first cork 810 to rail, dominated x games this year, and has a pure love for the sport.
Tanner- No one can ski everything like he can. I know dumont is sick too, but he focuses on pipe and park. Tanner skis everything. Lets not forget he is the only person to stomp a cab 9 on chads gap. Controversy aside he has the last three X games Pipe medals.
Pep- 1242. He invented landing switch in powder off stuff some people wouldn't even hit. That segment changed freeskiing completely. Now in IDEA hes throwing 9s in the backcountry and still doing sick park stuff, even on hellbents.
Jon- double flips. He had to come up with them to keep up, but he put himself on another planet.
Wildcard: Chris Benchetler- if you watch YEAH DUDE, his closing segment shows something a lot of riders struggle with: staying smooth. he never jerks around or looks sketchy doing anything. his tailgrabs are as steezy as they come, and his switch landings in pow are top notch (watch IDEA for that too). Because hes with K2, i think pep overshadows him a little bit, but hes a solid rider, and no one beefs with him, cuz hes down to earth and everyone likes him.
