wow, where do you live? I have to strongly disagree with that point. In my experience, I'm yet to KNOW a truly irresponsible parent who does not care about their kids. Albeit I don't have any unwed teenage mothers who are friends and live in a town that's higher on the socio-economic scale, but...

I was contemplating this the other day as well. I saw this very overweight couple with their incredibly overweight kid. The kid was literally 100 lbs, at least, and couldn't have been older than 10. They, in the time I was around them, both complained the stairs that they had trouble getting up...

what's better is after some elaborate story somebody tells, you say, "wow, good story. You should write that down man." That'll piss em off.
