Go with a Nikon. There's nothing better! I have a Nikon D40 and I love it! Inexpensive (as far as cameras go) and does the job. No overkill. Lightweight. And not to mention great pictures come from good photographers with good lenses. Get a camera that's not ridiculously pricey and save...
