What is the significance of the different NS names? For example a green or orange name, or a coin at the end?

My poor HV-30 is getting pretty haggard. Tape playback has been a major bitch over the last couple years. Clips cut short, constantly cleaning tape heads etc. Does anybody else still use a tape based camera and have the same experiences? Are there any benefits to tape base anymore???
