    A-basin today

One flat down box, one down shotgun rail. Conditions were alright for man made snow, the park crew kept the park up quite well. It doesn't look to me like they'll be able to get another run open by the weekend.

    Ski bum food and nutrition

Mooch off of people in the lodge. Camp out by the garbage and if someone is about to ditch uneaten fries, make your move. It's amazing how much good food gets thrown out at ski hills by the wealthier sort of person (meaning anyone who can afford ski hill food prices). If you get lucky you...

    A basin opens this wednesday

I'll be there, probably have to hitch hike to get there, but it's worth it.

    Broken Brakes

I had the same problem with Markers last year until I put the DIN up. Luckily my local ski shop would replace them for free, but I still ended up using nearly their entire supply of spare brakes. I've heard that someone, I think it's 4FRNT, designs their bindings so the brakes release in a...

    Season pass

    A-basin opening day

I live in Wildernest but can easily take the bus to Summit Cove or Keystone so you wouldn't have to go out of your way.

    A-basin opening day

Is anyone going to be heading up to A-Basin frequently during the early season (before Keystone opens)? I really want to ski as much as possible, but my only form of transportation is the Summit Stage and hitch hiking. I'd be happy to help pay gas money.

    Schweitzer

I've skied Schweitzer's park more than anyone else in the past 7 years and it's not that great. I know from experience that Bachelor's park is way better, so Schweitzer definitely isn't the best in the PNW. Schweitzer is definitely the best park in the Spokane/Idaho panhandle area, but there's...

    Free ski game

Finally an excellent free ski game (ok, so I'm biased because I made the graphics). You can get it at: http://www.sondahl.com/software/skijump/ Guaranteed to be better than any of the ski games currently available at newschoolers or your money back (so it was free, still a good deal, right?)...

    poles: necessary, or gay?

I've skied without poles from when I learned until today...that's 11 years. I've tried poles and I don't like them, which doesn't mean I can't ski with them. I don't flail my arms and such in the park, I put them where I want them and they stay there unless I screw up (and even people with...
