In 1869 Americans: John Healy and Alfred Hamilton created a trading outpost near what is now lethrbidge alberta. They named it Fort Whoop Up.

There was actually a fort previously there called Fort Hamilton, but it was destroyed after catching fire for unknown reasons. The fort was used to exchange stuff like furs, food, and weaponry, but it was also used to trade Whiskey (which was illegal at the time.)

The whiskey was called Whoop-up Bug Juice. Which included rank chewing tobbacco, molases, jamacia ginger
