Sometimes when I try and adjust the speed of a clip to go faster it says it isn't allowed. That there was a conflict that occured during a trim operation. How do I fix this!?!?

How do you get the effect, like a color corrector or something like the vignette filter to go on all of the clips that I put into motion? When I add the effect to it, it only does it for the clip that is in the motion viewer.
