i did it through outward bound in 2001. we went in august and youre right, it would roast during the day and frost at night. theres a railroad that crosses the river (maye you stopped there) and this small shack just off the river where an awesome old guy and his wife lived....they still there?

the missinaibe is a great river, i paddled it a few years ago. how were water levels? it can get pretty slow then they are low. also, if thats the river you did, you were nowhere near the arctic circle and hudson bay isnt really the ocean. still a good trip though
