check out the pipe ahead of time, know the over hang, it'll help you decipher the sort of pop you need. If its not as vertical, and slants more toward the deck, pop a lil to get the feel of it and adjust accordingly. If it's vertical, like 90 degrees, don't pop. You'll push off the wall too...
