Thought ice hockey would be my one and only true love. Well, that changed over five years ago. Don't get me wrong, hockey is and will always be the best team sport on the planet, but skating on a flat sheet of ice confined to an 200' x 85' foot area is no substitute for the chills and thrills of slaloming between trees, ripping down a steep, or blowing through powder like a dope night in Hollywood.

Photography
Anyone can learn to take a well composed picture, but for a photograph to capture movement, evoke emotion and draw the viewer into its reality is a special gift.
Viedeography
The motion picture. The same rules apply for video as for still photography, but under the context of a unifying story strung together by subsequent shots and performance. Each genre of movie has its "rules". For documentary filmmaking, I am a fan of the "1 plus 2 equals 3" mentality. Meaning: What is said (1) is complimented by visuals that not only speak to the topic but give the viewer more information than the obvious (2). This over the idea of showing the obvious visual to the description (1 plus 1 only equals 2).
Ski movies have the difficult task of combining aesthetics with performance, and the debate of story with porn is a debate yet to be completely explored. I believe--unlike to its analogy--the two can coexist.
