sick, when did you get an xl2? and how did you do the focus changes in depth of field from some individual flower to flower

sweet, did you get most of that overall look in camera while shooting, or was alot done in post? and how do you like it for filming skiing?
anyway that footage looks alot better than any of the HD footage from hvx's and stuff on here, if has much more of a film look.

^xl2's have always been known for a more film like quality than for example sony cams. honestly i think neither one is better, it's just personal preference but of course this cam does make for awesome shots

blleehh xl2? have fun luggin that around. SICK camera though, not exactly a ski camera if thats what you're using it for...

sick but it's going to be a bitch lugging that thing around skiing , and i think the pani. dvx100b beats it out in film look... here's a comparison of the xl2 dvx100b and the sony fx1 http://dvxuser.com/articles/shoot3/

it's actually killington's camera. I did some filming for them over the winter for events so they let me borrow it, but now the media guy is on vacation so i can't return it.
As for filming skiing its really not all that bad, I just pick the lens i want to shoot with, then leave the bag down in the events hut or in my car. Then i just ski around with the strap around my neck and my hand on the handle. It's definitely really heavy though, especially with the 20x zoom lens on, but for skiing you're not gunna be holding it up for extreme amounts of time so its not a big deal.

I only messed with some RGB curves a little bit, it was cloudy out so i set the color balance so it was pretty warm colors, then in post i knocked out some of the warm look.

check out an old edit by some kids i know, they used the xl2 so it can give you an idea of what it looks like on snow http://booyeaproductions.com/trailersplender.htm
