i was in alta a few weeks after this and it was very dope, though i didn't venture beyond any boundaries given my (lack of) knowlege in gnarly shit like this
<br>
<br>
some day though. smuggs you can be my guide haha
when you drop in and the snow doesnt rip out is when you boot pack out in 15 minutes..... why would you take the long route traverse and skin for 40 minutes ?
<br>
<br>
of course i dont remember romans because i was 9 years old when it happened. why would you boot pack up the y? same reason....
you dont boot up the cirque beacuse you have other ways to get up there that do not take long (romans was skied before it went..)...better safe than sorry right?...you boot up the y cause it would be 6 hours from whitepine.
andrew mclean -"In general, it is best to hike up a couloir before you ski it. This is a double-edged sword as it gives you a chance to assess the snow stability and look for ice"
^there are advantages.. but your a sitting duck and your only on one aspect of the chute typicaly the chute floor, the chute sides could have dramiticaly diffrent conditions... booting up someting puts typicaly alot less stress on the slope than skiing it...ha good luck man
