^the mats are made out of thousands of very flexible bristles, a kind of wierd plastic that comes apart when you edge. You can't carve as easy as on snow, but you get used to it. The landing is softer than hard pack/groomed piste as it has layers of foam padding underneath.

i cant imagine that you could carry any speed on that, but obviously you can from the pic
